FALSE: Nobody likes being abused. There are several reasons why some victims stay with or return to their partner. For example, some feel guilty about the abuse they have suffered or are afraid of what will happen to them if they leave – they’re worried about retaliation, lack of money, and/or difficulty finding a job or accommodation. Others still love their partner and want to believe in their promises to change, or they don’t want to separate the children from the other parent.
